I’m all about CR8TiVness and I think I need to start sharing other CR8TiV peoples talents here on MYT CR8TiV as well as my own. Lately I’ve been a moppy mood and although I have been drawing and being CR8TiV I haven’t done anything worthy of posting up on here. I didn’t wanna leave you guys in the dust while I’m in my Eeyore mood phase. I think I’m going through this Eeyore mood phase mainly bcuz my Mom is leaving for Japan in April and she may or may not come back. She’s talking about possibly permanently staying in Japan and live out her final days with my Aunts. I really think it’s great and have no objections to it but a part of me is still sad that I won’t have anymore Mother-Daughter outings, no more delicious home cooked foods shared by her, and no more going home for the holidays.

But enough about that. I wanted to share with you this link I saw on my Facebook feed. The picture you see above is a awesome bull sculpted entirely outta rusted old wrenches. You have to click the link and see the other CR8TiV creations this person makes. It’s inspiring even more bcuz this person is in a wheelchair. I am also physically disabled. Although I use my wheelchair only when I’m outdoors it’s inspiring to show that we are all talented and CR8TiV has no limits or boundaries. It’s all in how you look at it !! Your pile of paperclips on your office desk to some is just a pile of paperclips but to a CR8TiV mind it’s a sculpting medium and you can CR8TiVely stack them or link them together.

I want to encourage everyone who reads my blog to go out there and be CR8TiV. Grab a pad of paper and colored pencils and draw even if you haven’t drawn before or think you can’t. There isn’t such a thing as I can’t in Art. Even just grabbing a paintbrush and splattering paint on a canvas is Art. Can’t draw if your Life depended on it ?? Stick figures, blobby squiggles, two dots and a curve is still Art !! Whether you’re a pro with an Art degree, self-taught artist, or just a person who loves to doodle everyone can do it. If you want me to share your CR8TiViTY on my blog comment below or send me an email and I’d love to have you as a honorable guest here on MYT CR8TiV. (n_n) Everyone is welcome here on my blog !! With your permisson I can also share it on my photo albums on Flickr, Tumblr, Facebook, etc.

Quality Just Ain’t What it used to Be … (ñ~ñ)

12So I’ve been searching for some *NEW* Art Supplies like Markers, Coloring Pencils, and Art Paper. My dream is to own Prismacolor Coloring Pencils and Markers but I don’t have $1,000 to spend on Art Supplies. So I make due with what I can afford and in my current situation that’s generally RoseArt, Crayola, and brands I’ve never heard of.

I’ve generally depended on RoseArt and Crayola as my Art coloring supplier of choice but lately I’ve noticed that quality has really started to change in many Art products. Things that once were of high quality are now poor quality and things that used to be affordable and high quality are now priced as high as the high quality items.

For example … I’ve been looking for some Index cards to draw on and possibly sell as ACEO “Art Cards Editions and Originals”. I remember back in the day index cards were made of heavy duty cardstock. I bought a pack of index cards and the paper is the same as a medium quality printer paper cut into rectangular squares. I’ve gone to many stores searching for sturdy index cards and ALL that I’ve seen were of poor quality.

I was thinking I’ll just buy a pack of Cardstock and make my own but I was surprised that the price of Cardstock has risen and it’s not $3-4 dollars for 50-100 sheets anymore. Walmart does carry a 50 sheet pack for about $5 which I’ll probably end up buying. Buy it’s really tough to find any Art Supply in acceptable quality anymore. Even sketchbooks that say Medium weight paper the paper feels no different than printer paper. The cover says it’ll handle ink, markers, pens but the forgot to add in the fine print of … It will bleed through to the other side. (-_-) I often cut up a empty cereal box and place it behind the sketchbook paper to capture any ink bleeds so that it doesn’t go through to the brand new paper underneath.

All I can say is I’ve found a decent heavy duty paper sketchbook from my local DollarTree and some decent Markers from my local DollarKing so there is hope for finding good quality items you just have to look harder but I have to tell you it’s pretty rare to find. I hope that over time MYT CR8TiV™ can become something to where I’ll be making a steady flow of income that I can buy higher quality Art supplies like Prismacolor, Copic, Promarker, etc.

I know alot of you are saying … Shop Online !! But being I don’t have a debit card nor credit card nor any income of my own it’s kinda difficult to shop online. I get a bi-weekly spending allowance from my husband and depending on the higher priority items like utility bills, rent, groceries, other necessities the amount I’m allowed to spend ranges from $20 to $80 depends. Sometimes it’s been only $5. But I know when there’s a will there’s a way and I’ll find higher quality items at cheap prices and when I do … I’ll definitely share them with you.
