A Place to Enhance and Inspire to be CR8TiV !

Being CR8TiV is a endless learning process …

creativityHello ! Hope your weekend is starting off in a positive way. I had to repost this image bcuz it holds so true especially to me at least. I have been CR8TiV since the day I got my hands on a paintbrush or glob of playdoh in kindergarten but after 20+ yrs. of creating and crafting there are alot of mistakes made, learned, and frustrating moments where I hit a snag in a project.

My recent one has to be with paracord bracelets. If you read my previous post I explained that I am currently addicted to making paracord “Survival” bracelets. I made one ofr my husband which he loves wearing and a co-worker requested me to make him one in Black and Camouflage.

I didn’t have any camoflage color so I made a trip to my craft store to get some. My local Jo-Ann’s store was having a sale on paracord items. I bought a BIG 50 pack of buckles to use for my paracords but these buckles were double slotted on one end. (┬ ⌂ ┬) I’ve never used these double slotted ones before so I was a bit unsure how to use them.

This time there were no tutorials on YouTube to teach me how to loop through the double slots. But I did find a photo step by step but I learn better watching a video. So I had to go blind with this one and experiment, make mistakes, learn, and grow ! This expedition of trying to figure out how to loop through the double slots really did push my buttons. There were a few times I did shout in frustration with my husband looked at me like (Ó⌂ò) and suggested I take a break ?

But (ܱÜ) But I was determined to figure this out and wasn’t gonna stop til I got it down. Eventually I did get it which made me feel like Einstein finding the answer to his theory of relativity. I shouted OMG YES !! It scared my dog Leila jump and she scampered away as she was laying next to me as I figured out this double slot.

Finally was able to figure it out but had to stop from completely finishing the bracelet. You know you’re seriously addicted to a craft when you develop injuries in the process. Tugging on the paracord string to ensure it’s tightly woven has given me sorta a blister/callus on my right middle finger. It’s a tad red and sore so guess I gotta give my paracord bracelet addiction a rest to give my poor finger time to heal up.

Umm … for those of you who are also into making Paracord bracelets and have trouble figuring out the measurements for the bracelets I found this really good reference chart **(See Image Below ↓)

Paracord Chart

I don’t follow the Bracelet Spine lengths bcuz general rule is to make your paracord strings of equal length as it’s been to finish and still have plenty of string left than finishing and not having enough string making your bracelet too short. I tried using the 8 ½” inch bracelet with the 21″ inches x 85″ inches and the bracelet didn’t come out to 8 ½” inches. But when I just used the 85″ inches for both colors I was able to make the bracelet the length I wanted and still have some left in case I need it longer.

Give it a try !! It’s quite easy to weave a paracord bracelet. (=~=) Really wish I could make some video tutorials for you guys or at least maybe a photo to photo step by step but I don’t really have a proper craft space to do any type of filming. I promise in the future when my husband and I get a home of our own I’ll start up a whole shabang of interactive tutorials for my CR8TiV Arts. Enjoy your weekend and B3 CR8TiV !!

Paracord Survival ….

Hey, everyone ! Sorry I haven’t been posting up any Art or anything lately. I’ve been busy with my *new* addiction which is making paracord bracelets. I’ve seen these around and actually bought a couple but never realized just how easy it is to make one. If you can tie your own shoes then this can easily be done and once you learn the basics you can use any type of string from shoelace string to yarn to make one of these.

A fair warning though it takes ALOT of string to make just 1 paracord bracelet. The inner weave doesn’t require alot of string but it’s the outer weave that does. The outer weave string needs to be at least twice the length of the inner weave if not a little more. For example if your inner string is 30″ inches long … you’ll need at least 60″ inches for the outer but give a few more just in case so go with like 68″ inches. You can always cut off the excess.

I started learning paracord from a kit I bought at Walmart for $5. It’s a small plastic container with everything you need to make 6 bracelets but mine apparently was used, returned, and repackaged by Walmart bcuz I had some items missing and was only able to make 3 bracelets with enough string left for maybe 1 more ? Thankfully the nice people at LeisureArts who make the starter kit are nice enough to mail me replacement items to replace the missing pieces.

Again YouTube my favorite teacher has TONS of tutorials on how to make advance bracelet designs. I kinda like the dual colored ones like the ones pictured above. I’m still debating whether to open a Etsy account and sell some of these bracelets on there. (-_-) I just don’t like that Etsy takes a small chunk of your profits. I know it’s only fair bcuz you’re using their site to sell but I kinda like profits going to my pocket as I’m the one who put the work into making the products.

But I guess whatever way I chose someone is going to be taking a small chunk. If I take payments to PayPal they take a chunk to withdrawl any amount out but it’s a small chunk. Anyways I’m wandering away again. So Paracord bracelets are also known as Survival bracelets and not too many people know what the Survival part is about.

Let me share it with you … They are call Survival bracelets bcuz they require a quite amount of length of string to make. I generally make mine using a even length for both inner and outer weave. I made a bracelet for my husband yesterday and I used 90″ inches of string which equals out to 7.5′ feet of string.

Now here’s the survival part of Paracord “Survival” bracelets … If you are ever camping or lost in the wilderness a paracord bracelet can easily be cut and unraveled giving you 7.5′ feet of rope to use in multiple ways from tying branches together to make shelter, If you use a paracord with the number 550 on it that means it will hold 550 lbs. of weight so if you need to climb up a tree to get away from a bear or to get a higher view you can use your paracord rope, and God forbid you get injured and need a torniquet the paracord rope will work. So wherever you can use a rope you can use from your paracord bracelet which is why they call it survival bracelet.

I just find it another relaxing project to keep me busy and occupied during the week. I hope to get back to drawing or clay work again real soon. Just taking a break from all that at the moment. But I am working on some clay gifts for 2 pet grooming businesses. I’ll post WIP *Work In Progress* and completion pics on my Instagram @ MYTCR8TiV.

Endless CR8TiVity ….

creativity\(n D n)/ Good Morning and Happy Friday ! Hope you’re going to be having a CR8TiV weekend. So CR8TiVity is something that is infinite and endless. Being CR8TiV is a lifelong learning process ! You learn everyday whether it’s trying to learn something *new* or perfecting a skill you already have. The quote I posted above by Mary Lou Cook describes it perfectly !! CR8TiVity is about growing, experimenting, discovering or sculpting who you are as an Artist.

(u_u) I’ve been drawing since the day I could hold a crayon and it’s taken many MANY years before I’ve reached the spot I am today. Even though I have over 20+ yrs. of experience there’s alot I still have to learn. With the help of YouTube, Pinterest, DeviantArt, etc. I’m able to learn *new* techniques or perfect ones that needs improving.

(O_o) June is almost over and we’re half way through the 2014 year. Can you believe it that it’s only 6 months away from 2015 ? How’s those New years resolutions coming along ? LOL Of course I’m not very good at keeping up with resolutions so I bailed on that years ago. I kinda prefer to just live everyday life as it happens without any schedule, plan, to-do list, etc. Just let whatever happen happen and continue on with my everyday life. It’s less stressful in my opinion.

Anyways I wanted to end my 2014 year by doing something challenging and challenge myself while giving back to others through my Art. This is something I personally wanted to do but I thought maybe you guys might enjoy it too. So I’ve always loved Animals ! All sorts of animals from wild to domestic. (=~=”) Not too fond of certain bugs but I like butterflies, ladybugs, etc. Just not things like Spiders and Cockroaches !! (>∩<)

Now for Domestic I ♥ Dogs and Cats !! I have two(2) dogs … Leila who just turned 2 yrs. old and Moose who just turned 8 yrs. old. (n_n) I’m such a proud K9 Mama to know that my widdle Moose that I adopted at 5 months is now an old and happily aging 8 yr. old. Leila who was such a tiny pup is now a BIG lady !! My Mom calls Leila the Black Bear. 😛 She kinda does resemble one. If you were to mix a Black Bear with a Wolf that’s what my Leila looks like. She’s all Black in color and just a big teddy bear. Hehe …

So my personal sending off 2014 with a challenge idea is to draw different dog breeds. I’ve been trying to draw out different dog breeds. I drew my friends Pomchi “Powder” which sadly got Lost and never been found. I’m currently drawing a Pomeranian … One of my favorite dog breeds and dream pet. My God-Mother was a Pom Breeder and used to have almost 20 Pomeranian living in her garage til she retired. Her final and last Pomeranian passed away at the age of 21. But I used to love helping her raise the Pom puppies and care for them too. I grew up with those puff balls ! (ñ_ñ)

My personal challenge is to draw a different dog breed by the end of 2014. I figured I’d end up stuck with a album of dog breed portraits and I have a pile of finished artwork all over the house. I dunno what to do with them after I’ve finished them. Most of them I do post up on my Facebook page or one of my other Gallery pages like on Flickr, Tumblr, Instagram, etc. But I thought I’d do my first *FREE* Giveaway challenge by drawing your pet dog. Just send me a photo of your dog and I’ll handraw your dog portrait and color it as well. I will email you the finished drawing and mail it to you *FREE* with the additional option of donating a few bucks to have it framed or for more Art Supplies so I can do more art giveaways in the future.

So what do you think ? Does this seem like something you’d like to participate in ? If so just email me at : or message me on Facebook. ( ‘ _ ^) Either way I’m gonna try drawing a different dog breed each week but I thought it’d be an extra challenge if I draw your pet instead. I’ll do cats in the future for those of you who don’t have a dog. (=~=”) I still need improvement on drawing cats. Hehe … *ahem* *clears throat*
